A nice con to get peoples money. January 9, 2009 A. B. Security, Inc. (Toms River, NJ) I am a certified and licensed alarm tech for 28 years and in the business for 16. While these statements are somewhat true, they are known by quite a few. But what is not known is the proper way of setting up the circuits which was never explained and most installers never do right because everyone else does their installs that way. I won't get all technical or go into detail here but proper placement of eol is the strongest link to any system. If the system is done the proper way you can't defeat the devices easily within the time delay. And further more some manufacturers make their systems to respond to such attacks and warn of such at command centers and the monitoring station. Only the phone line can easliy be defeated if left the way the phone company installs them which has been known for years as one of the weakest link. And you can also back the system up with long range one or two way radios.
I ONLY WISH I READ THE CUSTOMER FEEDBACK FIRST!!!! July 12, 2008 R. LATURA (Mass) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I wish I had read the customer reviews on this absolute joke and rip-off of a security book before ordering, and tell you the truth,I am trying to get my money back as I write this!!This book is a joke, period! The author claims to have been in the security industry, yet knows only what you can find on the internet about security devices. There are 12 chapters in this thing I wouldnt wipe my you know what with, and every single "circumvent" technique,is IDENTICAL,chapter after chapter he repeats himself non-stop!!using his ideas of circumventing, the business getting ripped off would have to be owned by a deaf, dumb, and blind complete moron who cant even dress himself!!This clown of an author keeps telling you over and over and over again,(12 times),to cut the wires when the system is turned off, twist them together, then hide this action, blah blah blah... Like anyone would be able to do this first off,and secondly, like any business owner would not see you standing on a chair, taking the covers off the motion detectors, twisting wires together, cutting wires on magnets and twisting them together,I mean come on,and YES,he does claim that the greatest use of this tactic is done by "insiders",employee theft, well lemme tell you something,I am in the security industry, and I buy all these things just to get some ideas on how to improve on business, and to show customers, and yes, most business loss is chalked up to employee theft, but NOT by these techniques,I have never in the 20 plus years I have been in this business, seen any of these total nonsense bypass techniques ever used,EVER. Employees steal, yes, but they dont go to the bother of taking apart alarm devices, twisting wires together to take that door, window, whatever off the loop, then come back, they walk in,shut the alarm off, then when leaving, make it look like a burglary,or they just stash the stuff out the back door and come back at night, they certainly do NOT disassemble motion detectors, twist the green and white wires together, then reassemble the unit, then come back at night,to get ripped off by this method would be a total embarrassment, and I wouldnt even call the police,I would be so totally humiliated,I would keep it to myself and act like nothing happened!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS CRAP,PLEASE,TRUST ME,unless you enjoy wasting money,do not buy this thing he calls a book!!I only wish I read what others wrote about this crap of a book before spending my money on it.
Please everyone, believe us when we tell you, this is not a book for circumventing alarm systems,it is a book for creating capital for a lousy authors pocket!!!and circumventing your money from your bills to his pocket!!!
The Book Tells of The Most Fatal Flaw in Security January 19, 2004 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I read the other reveiws and wanted to leave one also. If one reads the book it tells of the single most vulnerable part of any security system. It is easily circumvented from the exterior of the building. If the communications link goes down then it's over. The system becomes useless and will not summon the police. After reading the book I have corrected the problem and can't believe the company never told me about the flaw. Apparently they almost all have it. Must back up the communication link for assured response. Glad I bought the book.
I now have a better alarm system March 2, 2002 6 out of 14 found this review helpful
This book helped up update our alarm systems at our home and business. It was simple to read and the one point it made about how the alarm communicated to the central monitoring facility was eye opening. We never realized how vulnerable we were. It told us how to have a better alarm system. I would recommend it to anyone who currently has an alarm or is thinking about buying one. I think it really exposes what many alarm businesses don't want you to know.
A Total waste of money and time January 15, 2002 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I have to say that this book is yet another attempt of a so called security professional to rip off the consumer. There is absolutely no information in this book on how to circumvent an alarm system. His circumvention techique can be summed up in two steps: if the alarm system is disabled and you are already inside the house(hello!) twist the wires together which are connected to the transmitter. Otherwise cut the phone line. Gee thanks for the insight. Please don't waste your [money] like I did as this buck isn't worth a penny.
